and it is wonderful to see renewed interest and scholarly attention being focused on this important early 20th century American etcher and Connecticut artist of note

Emilio Sanchez was an accomplished and prolific painter and printmaker from Cuba, who settled in New York. This early self portrait was a gift from the artist to Riva Castleman, late curator emeritus of prints at MOMA.
