Eu Sou Maria Format:DVD Robert CulpMaria, a 15 year old resident of Sao Goncalo, Rio de Janeiro, wants more than the traditional fate for a young black woman from the favela. She participates in an essay contest at a renowned private school in the South Side of Rio and gets a scholarship for an impressive essay. Despite this, she has a great challenge ahead: to prove that she deserves to be there and adapt to a world of privilege that never belonged to her.
